Heritage Center Stage, a division of Heritage Schools, Inc. (a nonprofit residential treatment center for at-risk adolescents based in Provo) has set performance dates for its annual theatrical production, the first to be staged in their new performing arts center. Performances will be held September 25, 26, and 27 in the James B. and Lynnette C. Loveland Performing Arts Center on Heritage's campus in the Riverwoods area of Provo.
Heritage began using this unique form of therapy in 1999 and now presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the tenth annual theatrical production to be staged by the youth at Heritage. The show is directed by Pat Davis, former Executive Director of the Grand Theater, and choreographed by Sarah Schaub.
Fifty students from homes all over the United States and from a variety of backgrounds auditioned in July for parts in this play by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice based on the story of Joseph in The Bible. Putting on a theatrical production in a residential treatment facility is a real challenge. The result is no average high school production. Professional sets, costumes, and directing raise the students to a higher level, aiding them in putting on a successful production of stellar quality.
Advance tickets for the show are $8. Save $2 on purchases of 10 or more adult tickets. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be $1 more at the door. For tickets or more information call 801-226-4600.
