Tifie Humanitarian

To: Fellow Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce Members

Tifie Humanitarian is a non- profit organization that believes that the power of enterprise is a force that can change the world. By helping individuals create enterprise, a thriving trade and commerce can emerge, eradicating poverty, banishing hunger, and perpetuating the hope of a brighter future. Tifie Humanitarian also believes in lifting the human spirit by supporting orphanages and schools, renovating and building schools, sponsoring youth activities and encouraging other programs that strengthen the family and the community.

Currently, Tifie Humanitarian is involved in various projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo: agricultural development, alternative energy programs, distribution and transportation services, and traditional humanitarian initiatives like orphanages, schools and youth programs. The businesses we have started include a water purification system, brick making and a trucking business. To learn more, visit www.tifie.org

Our approach sets us apart from most humanitarian institutions in our commitment to sustainability by supporting and forming local entrepreneurial initiatives. In our efforts to construct and upkeep this sustainable model, we are reaching exciting milestones and seeing tangible results.

· Our trucking business has employed around 25 locals, purchases cash crops from around 200 villages, and has increased routes from once a month to four trips a month.

· Orphans are now eating three healthy meals a day, learning in a newly remodeled school with donated tables and benches, and sleeping in new bunk beds that replace their sleeping mats on the floor.

· Brickmaking business has increasing sales, new marketing opportunities are materializing, and employees are finding innovative ways to solve problems and become more efficient.

We have a strong board of directors including Robert Workman, Jim Thornton, Fraser Bullock, Thurl Bailey, Ron Zarbock, Rick Maingot, Paul Savage and Eric Larsen. Each of these individuals are a respected professional in their fields. Robert Workman founded Tifie in 2006, although his career began several decades earlier as a small business owner of a single arts and crafts store that has now expanded into an internationally recognized corporation, Provo Craft and Novelty, Inc. His more notable achievements however, are not limited to Provo Craft. Robert is nationally recognized for both his business and humanitarian endeavors. Tifie Humanitarian is based in Spanish Fork Utah.

As you read the about Tifie and look at our website (www.tifie.org), please notice the progress that we have made, and the exciting vision we have for the future. We are currently raising the necessary funds to build a new orphanage to plan for growth. Please consider a tax deductable donation of $10, $20, $50 or $100. Donations of $100 or more will receive a set of handprints with a picture of one of the children at the orphanage. Online donations are accepted at www.tifie.org or by mail.

Respectfully submitted,

BANK OF AMERICAN FORK ONE OF BEST IN NATION FOR TOP IT INITIATIVES

Bank Technology News names local bank one of country’s top five

Bank of American Fork was credited with having one of the Top Community Bank IT Initiatives in the March 2009 issue of Bank Technology News. One of just five banks to earn the accolade, Bank of American Fork was recognized for developing an online learning management system that allows employees to complete regulatory tests and training from their work station rather than attending classroom sessions. The initiative saved the bank $150,000 within a year—an impressive return on investment for the $31,000 project.

Bank Technology News’ Rebecca Sausner said that saving time and money were primary drivers of community bank IT spending last year. “The entries BTN received in its call for the best community bank IT projects all outlined initiatives driven by these [IT] concerns. The projects highlighted are notable not because they rival Wells Fargo or JP Morgan Chase in their technological savvy, but because of the impressive ROI they produced.”

President and CEO Rick Beard expressed his appreciation to the training and IT departments that led the learning management system effort. “This is just another example of the ingenuity of our employees to solve problems and deliver on Bank of American Fork’s promise of Big City Banking ~ Small Town Service. I’m proud to work for an organization that values innovation and quality for employees and customers alike.”
