40 Years + 88 Doctors = Central Utah Clinic Celebration!

It’s time to blow out the candles and cut the birthday cake.  On July 30, Central Utah Clinic enters its 40th year of offering value enhanced care. That’s something to cheer about.

To celebrate, a birthday confection and a small commemorative gift will be offered to all patients and visitors on Thursday, July 30, 2009. Celebratory events for staff and the public are planned throughout the entire year.

Also, Central Utah Clinic wants to hear from the public.  If anyone has a photo, story or experience about Central Utah Clinic or its doctors, current or past, they’d enjoy hearing about it. Please email rcarling@centralutahclinic.com or call 801.362.7093.

Three internal medicine specialists–Drs. Nimer, Parker and Gardner started what has evolved into today’s Central Utah Clinic.  The group first known as Central Utah Medical Clinic practiced out of a home until 1962 when its growing patient base and addition of new physicians necessitated a move to a larger building. In July 1969, Central Utah Clinic incorporated and moved to its current main campus location at 1055 North 500 West, Provo. By the early 80s, the Clinic had grown to include 15 physicians practicing in five specialties. The original building was remodeled over the years but eventually demolished making way for the current updated facility.

In 2004, the Clinic changed its name to a simpler Central Utah Clinic.  The tag line “Your Health, Your Choice” was added reflecting the Clinic’s mission statement: Central Utah Clinic values first and foremost the quality of care patients receive and their right to participate with their physician in treatment decisions. We treat patients with compassion, dignity and respect regardless of the ability to pay.

The one-time Clinic that operated out of a home is now Utah’s premier independent physician group with 88 doctors specializing in adult and adolescent medicine, medical and radiation oncology, cardiology, colon and rectal surgery, critical care, dermatology and skin cancer, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), endocrinology, family medicine, gastroenterology, radiology, infectious disease, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, orthopedics and sports medicine, plastic and reconstructive surgery, pulmonary medicine and urology.

Besides the main campus in Provo, Central Utah Clinic has offices in Orem, American Fork, Lehi, Payson, Salt Lake and outreach offices in several central Utah cities.

The Clinic has seen amazing advances in healthcare over the past 40 years, yet with all the “bells and whistles” of modern medicine, the doctors and staff at Central Utah Clinic don’t forget what really matters -- the people who trust them with their care.

Introducing New Chamber Member: Serfwerks

Decades ago, retail magnate John Wanamaker said, “Half of the money I spend on advertising is wasted. The trouble is, I don’t know which half.” Wanamaker’s statement reflects a frequent problem within many of today’s businesses where marketing’s true impact is not understood. Marketing is seen as a necessary evil or a process where business is magically generated.

Said Diane & Kiley in a recent Business News article, “For years, corporate marketers have walked into budget meetings like neighborhood junkies. They couldn’t always justify how well they spent past handouts…They just wanted more money. But those heady days of blind budget increases are fast being replaced with a new mantra: measurement and accountability.”

Serfwerks, a Utah-based marketing and design agency, specializes in helping businesses measure and improve their marketing efforts. “Every organization has to engage in marketing in some form or fashion,” said Serfwerks’ principal Nate Gibby. “Organizations that can quantitatively measure and understand the performance of their marketing efforts will be able to significantly improve their marketing results without significant increases in marketing spending. Marketing should be viewed as an investment that pays a measurable return.”
