Utah Valley Chamber to honor students for integrity and kindness

The Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce will host the 16^th Annual Great Kid Awards recognizing outstanding 7^th graders in the community. The event will take place on April 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the SCERA Center for the Arts in Orem.

“The Great Kid Awards is a wonderful opportunity for the business community to send a message to our young people about the importance of having good character and making good choices,” said Steve Densley, president of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce.

A seventh grade boy and girl from each junior high and middle school within Alpine, Nebo, and Provo school districts were chosen for demonstrating integrity, kindness, and leadership. A total of 44 students will be recognized. We invite you to attend a night celebrating our future—great kids from around Utah Valley.

Congratulations to APX!

APX to receive award from American Red Cross

APX Alarm Security Solutions Inc., with headquarters in Provo, UT, will receive the Community Spirit Award from the American Red Cross Lewis and Clark Blood Service Region at a volunteer recognition luncheon on April 21.

APX is a residential security company that deploys sales representatives and installers throughout the United States and Canada. But APX is also a great corporate citizen generously providing assistance and resources to help people in need within the communities where they live and work. The company participates in the Sub for Santa program, raised funds for relief supplies in Haiti, bought Girl Scout Cookies for U.S. troops overseas, and many more activities.

Brittany Herbert, Red Cross donor recruitment representative in the Provo area, says, “They are wonderful and collect more units of blood than any business I have ever worked with – 154 on a recent drive and they held five drives in just over a year. Employees take such pride in their employer, every time I visit an APX blood drive I leave feeling revitalized.”

Brittany also said that “The APX blood donors seem happy to be there and their blood drives are fun activities. They have their own prizes and contests, such as ‘fastest bleeder’ and they award their own T-shirts.”

The American Red Cross has been collecting blood in Utah since 1997 and currently serves 33 hospitals in the state including Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. The Red Cross must collect 440 units of blood each day to meet the demand.
