WBN Nothing-but-Networking Luncheon

We joined with the North Utah County Women in Business (WBN) on September 8th at our semiannual Nothing-but-Networking Luncheon at The Hub at Corporate Alliance. It was great to see both old and new faces at the event as forty women came together to network. Landmark Catering catered the event and served a delicious Asian Chicken Salad.

It was great to have representation from New Skin with us at the event.

Special thanks to our sponsors for the luncheon- the Barbara Barrington Jones Family Foundation, Heritage Schools Inc., Utah Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau and Scholarship representatives from both BYU and UVU for PR.

We really enjoyed kicking off the fall with such a great event!

September Government Review Council

This week our Government Review Council met with Representative Dean Sanpei to discuss healthcare reform as it relates to the United States and Utah.

Much of our discussion was based around Medicaid reform and Utah's Health Exchange. Representative Sanpei shared ideas about changing incentives so physicians are paid for their quality and patients get more involved with the program. Educating Medicaid patients is key in helping them understand the importance of taking care of themselves after procedures, so that doctors do not have to see them multiple times after already taking care of the problem once. The Exchange would be a portal for people to buy insurance, which would have two advantages: Defined Contribution - which means businesses would pay fixed amounts
Portability of Insurance - which means if an individual works for a company and moves, they would be able to take their old insurance with them.

Again, we had a great discussion and look forward to our next GRC meeting!
